Precious I. Philip-Ifabiyi
MSc. Student @ IFROS.
Girona, Spain
I am currently working on my master’s thesis at the Centre for Underwater Robotics (CIRS), University of Girona, focusing on multimodal mapping with side-scan sonar and an optical camera. My academic journey is driven by a passion for developing autonomous robots that can navigate and operate seamlessly in complex and dynamic environments.
Previously, I had the opportunity to work with Dr. Michael Pantic and Dr. Lionel Ott at the Autonomous Systems Lab, ETH Zurich, during my Robotics Student Fellowship. This experience deepened my expertise in autonomous systems and fueled my enthusiasm for cutting-edge robotics research.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering from Eastern Mediterranean University, North Cyprus, where my foundation in robotics and engineering was established.
Research
My primary interests lie in enhancing the robustness and reliability of Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM), exploration, and navigation algorithms for field robots. One area I am particularly excited about is integrating learning-based methods to complement and improve classical robotics algorithms.
I am actively seeking research opportunities in robotics beginning in Fall 2025!
